McGowan is LinkedIn’s 2017 Top Influencer on Lifelong Learning & The Future of Work

She is an internationally recognized keynote speaker on the future of work and the future of learning. Accelerating disruptive cycles in industry, with rising automation and rapid adoption and scaling of technology, are making traditional jobs frameworks obsolete and demanding new and adaptive skill sets of workers. In higher education, McGowan advises presidents and senior leaders to develop students’ learning agility as well as critical thinking skills in order to prepare graduates for jobs that do not yet exist. 

She is the strategic architect of the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering, and Commerce at Philadelphia University, the first interdisciplinary undergraduate college explicitly focused on design thinking and business model innovation. She is also the architect of the Agile Mindset at Becker College, framework, a ground-breaking core curriculum demanded of all Becker students to develop learning agility with a focus on uniquely human qualities and skills - empathy, divergent thinking, social and emotional intelligence and entrepreneurial outlook - essential for the human-to-machine partnerships that will soon and comprehensively define the future of work. 

McGowan also guides corporate executives to re-think and re-frame their business models, and their understanding of team and organizational structures, to be resilient and successful in changing markets. In 2015 she originated the role of Minister of Culture for the global start-up Hyperloop Transportation Technologies. Her corporate clients range from start-ups like publicly traded, Fortune 500 companies, including Autodesk and BD Medical. She is the co-author of the book Disrupt Together: How Teams Consistently Innovate (Pearson).
