Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Like so many of our peers across industries, we are choosing to be transparent about our diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) data in order to hold ourselves accountable. Seeing and reporting the data puts a magnifying glass on the work that we need to do at sparks & honey. Our goal is to have a full spectrum of visible and non-visible diversity across every team, at every level of our company. We are building an organization where everyone on staff, at every level, feels that they will succeed on the strength of their work — and will not be held back by race, gender or gender identity.

We strive to create a culture where everyone feels equally heard and valued for their unique voices and perspectives that are directly informed by their race, ethnic background, gender, religion, ability and other identities. Every day we work to build a company that is definitively anti-racist.

Race, Ethnicity & Diversity

We believe there is power to be found in having a team that is racially diverse. We celebrate this fact and choose to continue our DE&I commitment beyond our walls, including strategic partnerships and collaborations that bring critical thinking and solutions through Daily Culture Briefings, our ADCOLOR Briefing Series and our Disrupting Hate Initiative. Black, Indigenous & People of Color

Over the next 12-months, we will focus on hiring and retaining BIPOC employees and increasing the number of Black high school and college students in our internship program. We currently have 14% Black employees at sparks & honey. We have set goals to recruit and retain 50% BIPOC employees and, at a minimum, 20% Black employees by the end of 2021.

Age Diversity & Cultural Apprentice Program

In 2020, we launched the second iteration of our Cultural Apprentice Program, which is an important route to ensuring more diverse age representation at sparks & honey. This program seeks to bring in apprentices with more than 30 years of experience to provide them with skills to start their next chapter and rewire instead of retire.

Watch a recent Culture Briefing showcasing the experiences of our two most recent graduates of the program.

Humanity & Identity

Bringing the real you makes for the best version of us. At sparks & honey, one of our five core values is Humanity. We believe everyone should be their authentic self and we strive to create an inclusive workplace that supports this value. sparks & honey employees are encouraged to dress according to their own personal preference, style, comfort, self-expression and identity. We encourage all employees to dress in a way that is true to themselves. Our physical workspace is designed to support an inclusive, welcoming and comfortable experience for everyone — including gender neutral restrooms. Feel free to download a PDF of our LGBTQ+ benefits package that includes items such as domestic partner coverage, as well as other health and gender affirming benefits.
