Branding, Business Models, Ecologically Sustainable Fashion

Rory Tahari

Co-Founder, State of Mind Partners

Rory Tahari is the a co-founder of State of Mind Partners, a strategic branding firm that advises both the disruptors and the disrupted, and invests in business models that are reimagining how the fashion industry goes to market, with a focus on edge-technologies like 3d printing and robotic sewing. These businesses endeavor to change and solve for how the fashion industry will brand, market, design and produce products both economically and ecologically - today, and in the future.

Previously, Rory has seen and done it all over twenty years in the fashion industry as CMO and President at Elie Tahari, one of only three founder-started fashion brands still in business after four decades. From the emergence of fast fashion to the domination of online and mobile shopping, Rory saw around these corners of change to help grow Elie Tahari into a global brand; from $50m to $500m in annual sales in just twelve years and surviving and thriving throughout the 2008 recession.

Rory still serves on the board of Elie Tahari, and also serves as an independent board director for various fashion, health, beauty and nutraceutical brands.

As a seasoned fashion entrepreneur known for her candor about the changes and realities the fashion industry must confront, as well as issues on women’s leadership and mentorship, she is a sought-after keynote speaker on the future of fashion and branding at leading events and academic institutions, like Harvard Business School.

Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and she regularly appears on CNN, Fox News, and Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer, and Martha Stewart.
